China Machinery Safety Certification: an overview

In the industrial sector, the Chinese companies become more and more demanding for the safety level of machinery. What the voluntary product certification is and why it may be needed

The voluntary product certification is the certification of products not listed in the Chinese national certification catologs. China Machinery safety certification is a type of voluntary certification and has been approved by CNCA (China National Certification and Accreditation Administration Committee). Voluntary certificates to obtain machinery safety certification can ensure that products comply with Chinese national standards (GB) or industry standards related to safety and quality. Products with this certification are less likely to be detained at Chinese customs or authorities when put into service. In addition, the Machinery Safety Certification raises the competitiveness of a product in the Chinese market.


Which products can obtain Machinery Safety Certification

Not all machinery product can do safety certification, depending on what the product is, there are any security risks. Each certification body may be accredited by CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) for some categories of machinery. For example, the CUC (China United Certification Center Co., LTD) is an institution that has been approved to carry out the safety certification of China’s industrial machinery products. This certification body takes relevant and applicable mandatory standards as the main technical basis, in accordance with the determined basic certification standards, certification rules and conformity assessment activities that demonstrate the safety performance of the machinery products. How to obtain the Machinery Safety Certification 

1. Machinery Safety Certification model

The certification model is based on on-site inspection, product sampling test, and annual supervision after certification.

Certification procedures for machinery safety certification:

  1. Submit application materials
  2. Contract review

  5. On-site inspection
  6. Sample sampling
  7. Safety performance test
  8. Approval and certification, post-certification supervision.


2. Corporate workflow

Prepare and submit application documents in accordance with the requirements of the certification body, accept the on-site inspection of the factory, implement product sampling testing, and the certification body will issue a certificate.


How long the Machinery Safety Certification lasts

The Machinery Safety Certificate must be renewed every three years with a follow-up site inspection. Like the CCC certificate, the follow-up site inspection is mainly to audit the company’s quality assurance capabilities and product consistency.
